This book is about a real living jaguar living in a coastal mangrove habitat being destroyed by illegal shrimp farms in the state of Nayarit, Mexico. She takes refuge in a private small mangrove preserve called Papalota. Her life is documented by the authors of the book using camera traps and reports from fishermen.
Funds from the book go to protecting jaguars like Janis and restoration of their mangrove habitat. You can find more info about the project here.
